Gator Hunting in South Carolina

For the 1st time, South Carolina has opened the season on alligators. About 1500 people applied for the 1000 spots that were drawn for permits to kill 1 gator at least 4 ft long. 700 people have paid the $100 cost for the permit. The gator 1st has to be roped or snagged with a hook and the brought to the boat and shot with a pistol or bangstick to kill it. It sounds like an adventure by all reports--something I might've jumped right into in my younger days. Lord knows gators are very abundant in our state.

Welcome to my blog

Hey there, this is Marc Ackerman.

Welcome to my blog.

It is my intention to discuss as many aspects of hunting in South Carolina as I can and other subjects such as dog training, callin, and maybe some other stuff that is outdoors related. I'll talk about hunting on public and private land as well as hunting on clubs and preserves. Please feel free to post any comments that you feel will be of interest to readers. I will publish anything that is in good taste and doesn't contain any adult matter. I'm also including some links on a wide variety of subjects that you may find useful.

So, welcome again and hang on for the ride.

Kindest regards,

Marc Ackerman
